The Black Pearl

We had to say good bye to the Oldsmobile. The car served us well. I had that car all my college years. It was the perfect car for all my commutes back and forth from St.George to Logan all on one tank of gas. It was like sitting on a couch.
Dad was our pioneer out to Florida in this car. He really loved the Oldsmobile. It was sad to see it go.
Dad now has a new car!
Jack likes to name the cars in our family but his names are not real original. For example our car is wagony, Jason's, blacky. Meredith's Jeepy and Jake's is speedy. Jack called Dad's new car Cooley. However the car ended up with the clever name The Black Pearl! Mom's car is pearl and Dad came up with the clever name. Kind of silly going on about the names of our cars but our little boy is a little bit car obsessed!

We broke in the Black Pearl one Saturday with a high adventure.
Our first stop was down to Treasure Island beach for the kite festival.

We saw some fun kites. My favorite was the big octopus and a big hound dog one. We finally found some decent kites to buy for our kite wheel and are excited to hit the beach again to fly them!

Just down the beach was Sno Balls! An awesome shaved ice place. It is crazy but there are not a lot of these places down here. We got the shark's blood to share and it was so good. Worth the trip right there. It was fun to sit in the sun, eat our shaved ice and watch the kites across the street floating in the sky.

Next we drove further North up the coast to Tarpon Springs. We went to the craft fair at the Sponge docks. A heavily influenced little Greek town. Where they harvest sea sponges. We had lunch at a great Greek restaurant. Mom and I had the best Greek salads and the boys enjoyed their Gyros. We did a little shopping and just had fun walking around looking at all the fun creations.

It was a great breaking in trip. As always it was fun to hit the small beach communities and fall in love again with where we live.
