Jack at 7

Wow Jack has been 7 for over a month.
Jack at seven is great, just like at every other age.
He is such a funny little guy with so much personality and it really is starting to shine through. Here are some Jack updates.
Lego's have taken over Jack's life. He is always building. We rearranged his room so he had a Lego building station. As soon as he comes home from school he heads straight to his room to play and build. He comes up with some really fun things but my favorite part is when he explains his creations to me. There is always a very intricate story behind each one.

They have a Lego young engineers club at school. To apply to be in the club Jack wrote a paragraph on why he loves Lego's and why he wanted to be part of the club. We submitted a picture of Jack with his Millennium Falcon. We all were excited when we got the acceptance letter!

Pepi and Jack's creation they made during conference.
Jack has been loving first grade.
He likes his new school and he has a wonderful teacher.
I take Jack to school and it is my favorite time of the day. He is so talkative when he gets into the car, sometimes too talkative.
Jack is becoming quite the charmer. When I clean out his backpack I find little love notes from girls in his class. We went to a birthday party a couple weeks ago and when I introduced myself there were a lot of "Oh you are Jackson's mom, we hear a lot about Jackson at home."  It is funny because Jack is so oblivious to what is going on, he is just in his own little world.

Jack being the little social butterfly that he is has had a lot of play dates with friends. He has made some really good friends and it makes me happy. One day he went with a friend to Legoland. We sent Jack with money for food and instead of eating he came home with all of this.
We have got some great use out of that gear though. That is what he was for Halloween and we had a really good family home evening talking about the armor of God, Jack was really into it.
Jack is such a sweet little boy and so very sensitive.
I was not feeling well the other day and was laying on his bed while he was playing. He stopped what he was doing and told me that he didn't like it when people are sick, his family or friends. He even said he doesn't even like to see people on TV sick, that melted my heart. I really don't know what we would do without our Jackson Cooper.

Halloween

We celebrated our first Halloween in our house this year!
I love holiday's and even though this year I was not feeling the best and things were very simplified a lot of fun memories were made.
We carved one pumpkin. Well Jason carved the pumpkin, Jack picked out a wolverine pattern and supervised.
We didn't all dress up on Halloween but we did for the Trunk or Treat at the church last Friday. Jack went as a knight and requested that I be his Queen. It was the sweetest thing so I found a cape and a tiara. I need to take advantage of Jack wanting to share costume themes with me while I can. We found some handcuffs and a detective badge at the dollar store and we were pleasantly surprised Jason agreed to be a detective. I think it was because he got to wear a fake mustache and that jacket.

Instead of having a Halloween costume parade at school they had a vocabulary parade. We choose Artistic as our word. Jack designed his shirt and we covered a hat with his drawings. Jack has some awesome creations, we love watching him draw and create.

Jack came home from school so excited and already had a bunch of candy. We had gotten all our homework done for the week and Jack's sweet teacher had the spelling test on Wednesday so we had the night free! We took advantage and we watched Hocus Pocus, made orange rolls, pumpkin shaped pizza and listened to Halloween music until it was time to go trick or treating.

Jake and Sheldon came over and joined the party. Since there were people home to answer the door to hand out candy I got to go out with Jason and Jack Trick or Treating. It was the best time. It was so wonderful to walk around our new neighborhood and meet our new neighbors, everyone was so friendly. We found out our neighborhood does this cool thing, they set up decorated tables in their driveways so the kids don't have to go to the door. It was such a good idea and I look forward to next year to set up our little "station". After trick or treating we sat for little while in the driveway handing out candy.
Jake and I had our 2nd annual scary movie night!
I love scary movies and no one will watch them with me. Last year Jake was willing to watch one with me and it was the best time. He is funny to watch with and so much better than watching them by myself. Jason won't even be in the same room and Mom and Dad retreated upstairs. It was a good time and is a fun new tradition.
I was up later than everyone and as I walked around turning off lights it was fun to see signs of the holiday throughout the house. Celebrating a holiday in the house made it feel even more like home.
I'm looking forward to many holidays to come in this home.
