Pinewood Derby

The scouts had a pinewood derby last night and after they were done racing they had races for those who were not in scouts yet. Jack and Jason entered a car, well a monster truck to race. Jack was so excited all day to put together the car with his dad and then to paint it and put on the stickers. He was so crazy once we got to the church he just wanted to race. We had a dinner first and he wouldn't stay in his seat. I had never been to a pinewood derby before so it was my first time as well. It gave me a little taste of what our future will be like.

Q Week

Q is for
which we painted all our Q projects with.
This was one awesome tool.
All I had to do was hold up this Q when I needed/wanted Jack to quiet down and he did it.
I hope it will not lose it's appeal after this week.

We played find the quarter on the quilt which helped Jack learn about money.

Favorite book of the week. The Very Quiet Cricket by Eric Carle.
We found and watched this video of the book several times.

It was a nice weather week and we had quite the time just being outside together taking it easy.

Fun with friends

Our friends Jared and Michelle were in Florida and we got to spend some time with them. It was great to see them again and Jack really took to them. He was sad when our time with them was over. We were able to get together at our place for Sunday dinner. After eating Jack brought Michelle all his toys and proceeded to play with her the rest of the night.

We met up with them in Orlando yesterday and went to Sea World to show then some of our favorite things.
Jared was a sport and went with Jackson into the bear cave.
They were the only ones when they went in and then all of a sudden all these kids came and Jared and Jack were in a small spot and couldn't get out. Michelle, Jason and I just stood there and had a good laugh.
Thanks Jared we are glad you made it out safely.
At the Shamu show, it is just not the same anymore now that the trainers no longer get in the water.
The last show of the day, waiting for the dolphin show to start.
Jack had to sit between Jared and Michelle obviously they are a lot more entertaining then us.

It was so great to see you Jared and Michelle we are so glad your conference brought you to Orlando!

And.....it's clean!

Today's pet scan result was clean! Out of close to a dozen scan result appointments I  have been to I hit my second one where there was nothing, not even an area to watch! I am free to go on confidently living cancer free for another six months. As a transplant patient it is these appointments that mean the most. Within the course of one day what is said in that room when the Doctor pulls up your charts to give the results can totally change you life. Which means the preceding days are fill with anxiety, fear and preparation in case there is something found and my life changes for the worse. But when the news that comes is good. Well those aches and pains I swore just the night before was something really bad that they were going to have to operate on, suddenly just feel like a sore muscle. I feel like I can go ahead and make those plans for the summer or dream about what I am going to do when Jason is finally out of school and Jack is in it. It all seems so dramatic and I hate that my mind goes to such dark places until those four words "your scan is clean" are said. But that is what happens and it will continue to happen. So for now I feel light and happy and feel like singing (and I have been too...to Jason, Jack a friend at our church meeting tonight...where thankfully my mother whisked me away from. Thanks Mom. The combination of my anxiety medicine and the good news got me a little carried away.) The petty things for now are at bay...they will come rushing back soon enough because it is life and I am human and a woman. However for now I just like to know that it I have the right to just breathe, to plan and live and be HAPPY all because I heard  four of the loveliest words today.

Honeymoon Island

Today our little family of three took a day trip to Honeymoon Island State Park. Jason started his ER rotation on Monday. He has varying shifts, an average of three a week so that means he has some days off!!!! We took full advantage of his day off today to hit the beach. I get into these funks daily of all the things that I cannot do or how my life has changed because of my body and the effects of all those cancer treatments. So  a day spent out in nature with my boys sure did the trick to help me see things differently.
It was so pleasant to be out just the three of us.
This picture makes me laugh. We were going to take a picture of our picnic with the timer but Jack was the only one looking. We were occupied watching the sea gulls that were gathering in fear that they would attack.  I just love Jack's little smile and face in his picture.

I love the sun on my face and a good book in my ear.

It is called Honeymoon Island...it gets to you.
Plus a lot of my romantic memories with Jason have been on the beach.

Skipping rocks.
Well Jason was skipping rocks, Jack was just throwing them
Jack with his bucket full of sea rocks.
The sea shells my boys collected for me. I love little sea shells.

As we headed home I thought how great it was to see palm trees and to be out in the world amidst the people with the windows down driving down the coast. It made up for all those long days without a husband and dealing with the attitudes and demands of a four year old.

Tomorrow I get the results of yet another pet scan they always bring me anxiety and stress but hopefully the peaceful feelings of today will carry me through tomorrow.

However you say it

Of  all the cute and clever ways to hear you are loved my favorite one was coined by Jackson just the other night. I had a bunch of valentine stickers and put one that said you are the cat's meow on Jason. We were laughing about it and Jack said no Mom "Dad is the dog's bark!"
So to BOTH my valentines you are The Dog's Bark and don't you forget it!

We got Jack this valentine chocolates box (with a dog of course) and had it waiting for him this morning, He thought it was the cutest box and was just happy playing with it. Then I told him there was a treat inside so
he opened it, found out what was inside and got really happy!

Happy Valentines Day!

This kid....

loves to dance and move, move move!

Last night during half time of the Super Bowl Jack was memorized watching the Black Eyed Peas and their dancers dance. The whole time he just sat there with his mouth open. When the performance was over Jack was silent and then said " I need a lighted suit."

The start of the Jack's trophy collection

Today was Jackson's last soccer game for the season.Sadly it got rained out but it was not a total loss he walked away with his first trophy! I was not able to be there because I had a pet scan that morning but he was so dang cute when he walked in the door with it. It has his name and everything on it!
We went out to dinner to celebrate and the trophy came along.
Jack and his first trophy!
Jack wanted a funny face pancake for dinner.
When the plate was presented in front of him he let out the biggest and loudest laugh.
It was hilarious.
Jack's funny face pancakes.
One big pancake head and two smaller pancake ears with blueberry eyes. A butter nose, bacon mouth and  scrambled eggs for the hair.

As we were walking out the hostess commented that Jack had a trophy he was acting all cool and saying that he was a really good soccer player. What a guy.

O week

O is for
We made this puppet where you cut out a hole for the mouth and attach a cardboard roll so that when you hooted through it made it sound like an owl.
We read this funny book then Jack was made the safety officer.
He was responsible for toy clean up. We injure ourselves stepping on cars way too much.
What a silly looking bird.
